George Barbier

George Barbier was a French illustrator known especially for his fashion illustrations and was also involved in set and costume design. I frequently see his name associated with the Art Deco period, but I must admit his works strike me as showing more of the Art Nouveau characteristics. Clearly, I need to do a bit more research into the distinctions between Art Deco and Art Nouveau.

To start with I’ve selected just a few of Barbier’s works to display, but I will be adding more. By clicking on the banner above you can see a bigger selection.
